A CERG research paper, authored by Tony Sampson (UoE), was published last week in a compendium of papers exploring the role of culture and place in the development of English cities and towns, based on projects presented at a conference in Bradford at the end of last year. The publication was marked at the fourth annual Parliamentary dinner of the Key Cities Innovation Network.
Guests speakers included the Innovation Secretary Peter Kyle and AHRC Executive Chair Prof. Christopher Smith, focusing on the role of place in an era of transformative change, and the distinctive contribution the KCIN network has in shaping that. Cllr Jemima Laing launched a compendium of papers.
The CERG paper – ‘Leveraging Emotional Geographies of Heritage to Boost Community Empowerment at the Mezzolevel,’ features research with residents in North Essex seaside towns. The main aim is to “understand feelings about space and place, in relation to heritage, but also leverage local emotional geographies to empower communities to co-create deeper engagements and development opportunities.”
