The first Maldon District Creative Gathering took place at Datum Attitude Brewery in Heybridge on the 30th March. This was a chance for creative practitioners to get together, network and share some insights into their practice, events and programmes. Representation was from across all ‘corners’ of the District – Burnham-on-Crouch, Tollesbury, Mayland and Maldon.
The gathering was organised by the Cultural Engine CIC as part of their work with the District Council on a Culture & Heritage Strategy – improved networking and collboration between cultural organisations and individuals being an important outcome.
There were presentations from Cultural Engine, Burnham-on-Crouch Art Trail, Tollesbury Martime Heritage CIC (including on the Art Trail), Paper Birds (Maldon-based National Portfolio Organisation) and Maldon Art Trail.
The presentations were followed by food, drink and networking and there was significant interest in future gatherings that are focused on specific issues/themes as well as supporting networking and collaboration (including collaboration with other sectors incuding heritage and environmental).
